Das indonesische KünstlerInnenkollektiv HONF (The House of Natural Fiber) aus Yogyakarta, das im Januar für ihre
akustisch-performative
Installation „Intelligent Bacteria – Saccharomyces Cerevisiae“ mit dem transmediale Award ausgezeichnet wurde, untersucht in seiner Ausstellung „The Open Apparel Project – Velocity“ (in Zusammenarbeit mit
Rizaldi Fakhrudin, Ferry Nurhayat, Ega Ginanjar Lesmana)
die weltweiten Produktions- und Distributionswege der Modebranche und entwickelt DIY [Do It Yourself]- und DIWO [Do It With Others]-Strategien für die Schaffung neuer Herstellungs- und Absatzverfahren in Indonesien und weltweit.
In einem offenen Workshop am Donnerstag, den 2. Juni, ab 15 Uhr, verbindet HONF ihr künstlerisches Forschungsprojekt über Bakterien und deren Potential Fermentationsprozesse in Gang zu setzen mit ihrem Projekt über DIY-Produktionsmethoden in der Modebranche und bringt Kunst, Biotechnologie und Mode zusammen.
Die Ausstellung findet statt anlässlich des Festivals für angewandte Akustik vom 5.–11. Juni 2011 im ehem. UFA-Palast Hohenzollernring, Köln, im Rahmen von ON – Neue Musik Köln.

The Open Apparel Project – Velocity aims to open up new opportunities for the fashion industry in Indonesia and beyond. Using DIY [Do-It-Yourself], DIWO [Do-It-With-Others] as well as generic methods, the Indonesian new media art laboratory The House of Natural Fiber (HONF) is cooperating with DISTRO [Distribution Outlet: a DIY shop/clothing line] in order to develop new strategies to compete in local and international markets, in turn developing secondary industries, increasing employment opportunities etc., while bringing together traditional trading methods with open online collaboration.
The Open Apparel Project – Velocity
has been conceived in collaboration with Rizaldi Fakhrudin, Ferry Nurhayat, Ega Ginanjar Lesmana.
The exhibition is taking place on the occasion of the Festival for Applied Acoustics, June 5–11, 2011 at the former UFA-Palast Hohenzollernring, Cologne, as part of ON – Neue Musik Köln. The festival focuses on the city and its invisible infrastructures as a realm for activity and sound.
